If someone were to ask you, “Quick Pro Quo Clairesse, who inspires you the most?”, what would your answer be? (I just had to use that phrase from Silence of The Lambs, Hannibal was such a smart man) Would you have to think about it, or could you say it without thinking. Could you explain why you are inspired by them in 2 words or less? Would the other person be inspired just by your answer?
If a person truly inspires you all the answers to the above should be a “YES”! I have several individuals that quickly come to mind, and I have proven that when you are excited and uplifted, it will quickly spread to the other person. Many years ago, insomnia joined my nightly routine, and I was watching an ever so interesting infomercial. The only thing that I paid any attention to at first, was the fact the man speaking had extremely large teeth and they were past perfection white. I sat there long enough, out of a desperate need for sleep, and started to pay attention to what he was saying and selling. You know how the rest goes. I wound up purchasing the cassettes (that should tell you how long ago it was) and workbook, and when it arrived, felt a little silly ordering it.
Fast forward about 15 years or so, and I have since ordered the DVD/CD sets and workbooks. That purchase made from a sleepy stupor was the best thing that could have happened to me. The large man with the pearly whites was Tony Robbins. He was so inspiring and powerful. I remember selling the original cassettes at a garage sale. A young college kid and his dad kept looking at them. The dad wanted to get them to help motivate his son and help him prepare for college. I was so certain that they would be beneficial that I gave a warranty with the purchase. I told both of them that if those cassettes did not make a difference in just their every day lives, that I would refund what they paid, plus $20.oo. I gave them my phone number along with my word (really? a guarantee with a garage sale purchase?) I did hear from them several weeks later, but it was to tell me how much they appreciated the material and they had shared it with other family members.
I know that when I am at my best, I could be better. I know that I must muzzle that negative voice (aka “mother-in-law”) when it comes around. I know that there is no such thing as failure. Failure is what we achieve when we only fail to try. It is hard to be positive when you surround yourself with negative. It is hard to keep going when you have to be your own cheerleader. But you know what, you can do it.
So, who inspires you? Can you inspire others with your inspiration? Will you one day be a Tony Robbins to someone else? My answer would be a Yes!
