Ben Franklin may be long gone, but the jewels of knowledge he left behind are priceless. Ben was wise beyond his years, and the principles he applied to “everything” can still be applied by you today. I suggest you use these everyday and in some aspect of your life you will start to see growth, improvement and a huge sense of accomplishment.
“Never Procrastinate”: Do not leave until tomorrow, what can be accomplished today. Procrastination is one of the biggest road blocks that we can face. Fear is also a force behind procrastination. When we do not know what an outcome might be, we delay acting on the task at hand. One way to avoid this is to envision what you think the outcome will be. What is the worst possible thing that could happen if you keep avoiding the task. Next, ask yourself what will be the best possible outcome if you complete the task. By doing this you have taken the “fear” out of it and have the knowledge to handle it.
“Speak Less-Act More”: Well done is better than well said. This one is self explanatory. Do not keep talking about what a great job you can do, just do it. Let you work speak for itself.
“Be Prepared”: This one isn’t just for the Boy Scouts. Being prepared can be applied to all aspects of life. By failing to plan you are planning to fail. This statement was embedded with me when I was an insurance agent. We would use that very short statement to help move our clients into action. It worked, and it worked well. No one wants to “plan” on failing. The only way to avoid it is to be prepared!
“Embrace Change”: Nothing, and I mean nothing should ever stay the same. Marriage, business, friendships all should be continuously evolving. If they aren’t then you should have left all of them a long time ago. “When you are finished changing, you are finished”.
These are just a few words of wisdom that Mr. Franklin left behind. Again, take these and see how they can be applied to all aspects of your life. I promise that by just using one of these you will begin to see a huge difference.
