How many times in life have you caught yourself saying…”I wish I could”, ” I should have”, or “maybe one day”? If you are like most of us you probably think this every day, and if you aren’t, consider yourself lucky for being able to immediately do what makes you happy in life. But for the rest of us, we need some inspiration from time to time, to help us remember what our passion and dreams are.
First, just take a step, any step towards what you would like to accomplish. Whether your goal is big or small it will all begin with the first step. Start with a part that you will enjoy doing the most and that can be finished within one setting. You will be amazed how the feeling of accomplishing it will motivate you to the next step!
Second, Keep it simple and leave perfection at the door (for now). We often discourage ourselves by making things seem to difficult. Find the “center” of what your aspirations are and the rest will fall into place. Sounds cliché, but it is true.
Third, know what resources are available to you. Know where they are, what you need to do to access them and actually use them. There are a numerous little gold mines of information you encounter every day. However, we fail to see them and miss out on opportunities. Learning isn’t always expensive. Research any and every avenue of no cost tools.
Fourth, start telling others what you are doing and what you are wanting to accomplish. True friends (not relatives) will be supportive and assist you in any way they can. A strong support system will take you further than you can imagine, and give you a sense of accountability.
Last, but not least, tell the people in your life what you need. So many times we assume that others just should “know” what we expect. There are few people that you will ever encounter who will be able to do this! Speak up and let others know what you need help with. They may not be able to help you directly, but through networking, can probably find someone who can.
